IN recent years Windhoek has seen an unprecedented growth of informal areas on the edges of the city, yet with more and more people arriving in Windhoek and setting up informal dwellings, the Windhoek Municipality lacks building regulations for such homes.
A spokesperson for the municipality's building control division has told The Namibian that in order for the municipality to issue a compliance certificate, an essential component in the construction of any dwelling, it must see an agreement certificate approving the building method used in the construction of the dwelling. ...more

AIR NAMIBIA has ordered two new Airbus A319 aircraft to replace the Boeing 737-500s at a cost of approximately N$1,2 billion.
The national airline is expected to take ownership of the aircraft towards the end of the year.

In 1575, the Portuguese captain Paulo Dias de Novais, landed in the Cabo Island, and set up the first nucleus of settlers that included about 700 people, including 350 soldiers, church officials, merchants and civil servants.
One year later, (1576), considering that place inappropriate, moved into continent and founded the São Paulo da Assunção de Luanda town and laid the foundation stone for the construction of the church dedicated to "São Sebastião", the present site of the Armed Forces Museum. ...more

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has bolstered its operations on the booming Africa trade route by adding five weekly flights from Dubai to the capitals of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
